About this place
An evening at mumurik can begin with a leisurely choice of wine to go with the appetiser platter. One visitor noted the wide selection of wines by the glass and said staff offered suggestions after hearing their preferences. The pâté de campagne on the platter made a particularly strong impression; they also enjoyed carpaccio, marinated peach and roasted venison. There is pleasure in deciding whether to order several dishes to share or to plan a course through to the main.
Alongside roasted Ezo deer, the meat dishes listed on the menu include beef skirt steak, roast lamb and pork spare ribs braised in balsamic vinegar. One diner found the Ezo deer sold out and ordered the beef skirt steak instead; they liked both enough to be unsure which to choose next time. Fish dishes offer a different direction, from sea bream poêlé with browned butter sauce to sautéed Japanese flying squid with couscous and basil sauce, as well as fritters of small scallops and garland chrysanthemum.
A lunch guest reported a generous variety of appetisers, including two kinds of pâté. They also had baguette, salad and consommé, and said the experience left them wanting to return in the evening to choose dishes à la carte. Another lunch visitor enjoyed a set that paired pasta with salad and soup.
For pasta, crab peperoncino is another dish to look out for. A frequent visitor said they and their companion still ended up vying for it after a meal, and recommended ordering one portion per person. mumurik serves both lunch and dinner, and has counter seating. At this branch on Umeya-cho, south of Takoyakushi on Fuyacho Street in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, lunch comes in set form, while dinner invites diners to choose dishes starting with wine and appetisers.
